Population pyramid
Today in class we talked about population pyramids. These are like bar graphs. but put on their sides. They are used to show population at ages at a rate on a graph. There are three types of them. A tree, box, and cup. A tree is a developing nation with not a lot of old people and a lot of kids. A box is a developed nation that has a solid base of young people as well as a girthy top of old folks. Finally, a cup is a place where there are more old people than young. The first and last are not good situations because there is a lack of work force and leadership. The middle one is the best because it is set up for all tasks. We also had a shadow in our class named Kyle. He was homeschooled is entire life, and is looking for a school to play football and meet new people. I personally like him because I have met him before and we are friends. He is an athlete that I can relate to. In the end, I enjoyed this class and am intrigued by the population pyramids.

Today in class, we talked about all the things we had looked at on www.CIA.gov. The research we had to look at was all up to us. For example, we chose something we thought that was interesting from a country's bio, and wrote what we thought about it. It is very reflective learning about all of these different kinds of people and the style they live. Some of these countries have few people and are rich, while some have hundreds of millions and are very poor. I enjoyed this class because I got to look up some of the different life styles and things others live through compared to what we have to endure. In addition we talked about the state of China compared to the U.S. I feel like we always kept coming back to it. The biggest difference that shocked everyone was that the U.S has about 13,500 airports while China has 500. This is crazy because China has four times the amount of people. In the end I enjoyed using this website and look forward to the test that we will use it for.

Assignment blog
1. Aruba is a country that has about 115,000 people. I ma surprised because it is a decent sized place. In addition, their birth rate is about four points above their death rate.
2. Dominican Republic is a Spanish speaking country that has about 11,000,000 people. However it is 95% catholic which is shocking to me because it is not associated with a lot of Spanish ancestry of the catholic faith.
3. Ireland is a country that has 5,000,000 people. It is weird to me that 2.1% of them are Asian. In my mind I feel that there would be no asians because it has nothing to do with asian culture.
4. Another thing weird about Ireland is that they are over 75% catholic but have a religion of Ireland that less than 2% of the population is a part of.
5. Morocco is a place that has around 34,000,000 people. However 99% of them are Arab. That I would have never expected. I always thought it was a tropical place where you go on vacation. In addition they have a birth rate about 14-15 points higher than the death rate.

world growth
Today in class we talked about world growth in population. For this too happen there has to be 2.1 kids per woman. The reason there is a .1 after the two is because if a woman just had two kids it would just replace the mother and father. So there would be no growth there. That is why there has to be and extra point to have growth. In addition, we talked about migration. Migration is a big part of the United States. It is also a big factor in population growth. Since the United States had a lot of good and not a lot of bad, many people want to come here. To be honest if I was out side I would too, but the legal way. Finally we talked about how Mr. Shick's mom had a 7,000$ injection that she had to get every month before she died. In the end, I would like to have four kids, have legal immigration in U.S and none illegal, and never have major health issues.

Population
Today we talked about population. This included how Morocco has the longest life expectancy, and how women live longer. Here is part of an article from Our World Data that talks about why women live longer. "Independently of the exact weight, we know that at least part of the reason why women live so much longer than men today, but not in the past, has to do with the fact that some key non-biological factors have changed. What are these changing factors? Some are well known and relatively straightforward, like the fact that men smoke more often. Other are more complicated. For example, new evidence shows that in rich countries the female advantage increased in part because infectious diseases used to affect women disproportionately a century ago, so advances in medicine that reduced the long-term health burden from infectious diseases, especially for survivors, ended up raising women’s longevity disproportionately." This just gives information on how women who live in wealthy places live much longer. In the end, I am very glad I am a male rather than a female even thought they live longer.

Review
Today in class we talked about reviewing for the test. It sounds a little hard because I didn't know that you couldn't put notes on your map. The night before I put every note on my map and thought we could use it, but now we can't. If we could that would be an easy A and and quick test. After that we played a game with Demitri that involved test questions. Demitri would ask a question and two people from each team would need to write the answer on the board. I went up twice and won both times. In the end it was a fun experience in human geography, and it helped me with things I needed to know.
Going over the test again.
Today in class we talked about the test. We added the whole maps and time zone part of it. It helped me know what to study because I have to take the test early. The reason I have to take it early is because I am leaving to go to Florida for a base ball tournament. I believe the test will be easy but have a few of those questions that really make you think. However, it's on a scan-tron, I hate scan-trons, I always pick the wrong bubble in the wrong question. In addition, we mourned that Demitri wasn't there. It was sad because he makes it better by just being there. I like it when he teaches and gives examples. Mr.Shick is also very good too. They both compliment each other's teaching methods. In the end, I like the maps and I am looking forward to the test.

Dametri part 1
Today in class we had Dametri teach again. He was good as always and kept the class alive. When he teaches it adds a weird but helpful perspective. As he was teaching we went over regions and other places by using landmarks. It was pretty boring when we took notes but we also fooled around with examples and people's stupid answers. In addition, we talked about random things and just waited the time out. Finally, whenever Dametri teaches class goes by much faster and I leave with a smile. However, I do still like Mr. Shick. I think it's funny when he tries to be loud and tough because its just not him. In the end, I like human geo but the blogs are inconvenient and just annoying.

Whats on the Test
Today in class we talked about what will be on the test next week. This included all of the maps and things related to them. All of the stuff we have gone over in his class have been off of one slideshow that we are almost done with. I don't know what we will earn next but I hope it is something actually interesting. I would like to learn about wars and historical battles that shape the world today. So far we have just learned about maps, time zones, and more maps. The Socrates information was pretty cool but was also boring in a lot of ways. In addition to that, we also discussed Alexa's talking. She answered a lot of questions and was told not to answer another until winter. Finally, class we talked about how you get a detention if you play games in your computer. In the end, I enjoyed this class.

FRIDAY class
In todays class we had a pop quiz. It was a weird quiz that had terms on it that we had either never seen and or barely talked about. No one in our class got a ten out of ten on it because it was challenging. I recieved a seven out of ten on it and I don't like anything but solid A's. My parents also want me to do well in school so I can go to college as a student and hopefully also an athlete. I want to go to college for baseball and then get drafted junior year to go into pro-ball. However, after the test we did nothing and just did nothing. I don't remember what else because we had HOCO last night and it was pretty good which made it hard to concentrate on school. In the end, I need to be prepared for pop quizzes.

Demitri was teacher
Today in class. we had two people volunteer as teachers. They were Hank and Demitri. Hank was horrible and Mr. Shick made him know that, but Demitri was much better than Mr. Shick. He was better because he knew what was missing because he was being taught by Mr. Shick for a month now. I also felt like he did a better job by giving definitions for some of the words on the board. I could tell it helped others including myself. This also shows to me that the reason teachers hardly make any money is because anyone can do it. It is an easy job that you have only have to go to work during the school year. In the end, teachers deserve more recognition but it is an easy job.

test talk
Today in class we talked about the test. I got a 86% on it and I think I did better. I lost most of my points on the essay part. I received a 30/40 on it and I feel like I answered the question well, but I guess not. In addition to the test talk we started to talk about the kneeling in the NFL. Many people had different views and perspectives that they were passionate behind. For example, there were people on the side of free speech and the side of you shouldn't disrespect America. I personally disagree with it and I think anyone who does it should be dropped and banned from playing I the NFL. On the other hand they are peacefully protesting in a way that is better than other democrats who throw tantrums and riots if they don't get what they want. In the end it is a stupid situation that should have been handled with a while ago.

Time of Tech
In todays class, we talked about technology and how it can be harmful for us. This included how it can monitor us and find our location because we let it. It will ask us if we allow or block and many times we will allow it to have our location and our personal information. In today's society many adults and even kids have these devices that they allow to have there information on a big data base that is sold and can be seen by other people. I personally think that it has gotten out of control and that we are heard and monitored anywhere we go now a days. If you think about it there are cameras everywhere, people with cell phones, and satellite GPS on your phone which is on you all the time. In the end, it seems that there is no end and it will only get worse.
